The strike within Lufthansa extended

The German airline company Lufthansa initiated it's first strike this year today. As of Thursday, March 19 the strike has been extended and flight passengers from Sweden are requested to stay updated.

On Wednesday only Lufthansa's short and medium-haul flights were afflicted by the strike within the German pilot union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC), but tomorrow the airline's long-haul flights will be affected too.

Lufthansa has no long-haul flights emanating from Swedish airports, but Swedish passengers might still be affected now that international routes from Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Munich might be cancelled.

Contact the airline before departure

The conflict within the pilot union VC has been ongoing since 2014, with several strikes as a result. If you plan to travel with Lufthansa over the next few days, you are advised to make contact with the airline via their website or by telephone.

More information about your rights during an air strike is available in the articles Delayed flight and Cancelled flight. Lufthansas affiliates Germanwings, Eurowings, Air Dolomiti, Swiss, Brussels Airlines and Austrian Airlines will not be affected by the strike.
