The Services Directive

Updated: 8/27/2014

The aim of the EU Services Directive (2006/123/EG) is to make it easier for you as a consumer to buy services from other EU countries, for example contracting services, domestic services and information services.

The Services Directive was implemented in all Member States on December 28, 2009.

The Services Directive applies to a wide range of services – to private individuals and businesses – with a few specific exceptions. Read more about them at the European Commission’s website. You will find the link on the right side of this page.
