Public consultation - Passenger rights

3/29/2016

Until 5 May, you have the opportunity to participate in the European Commission's public consultation on rail passengers' rights.

Since the adoption of Regulation (EC) No 1371/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2007 on rail passengers’ rights and obligations , passengers in rail transport enjoy basic rights during travel in the EU. The main objective is to improve the quality and effectiveness of rail passenger services and to increase the use of rail services in relation to other modes of transport.

In 2012, the Commission carried out an evaluation of the application of the regulation. In its report to the European Parliament and the Council of 2013, the Commission identified a number of areas where the rights of rail passengers could still be strengthened.

The main objective of this consultation is to improve the quality and effectiveness of rail passenger services and to increase the use of rail services in relation to other modes of transport.

More information on the consultation as well as link to the questionnaire can be found on the European Commission's website.

The questionnaire will be available until 5 May.
