Europe Day is celebrated with debates and seminars

On Friday, May 8, it is time again for the recurring Europe Day. In Stockholm the celebrations will be held in Europahuset. The empowerment of women is one of the subjects that is on the agenda. 

Europe Day is being highlighted in different ways all across Europe. According to tradition it is the home of the Swedish representation in the EU, Europahuset, who acts as a host for the activities arranged in Sweden. Seminars, debates and interviews will be arranged continuously throughout the day from 08 A.M. to 05 P.M. All seminars are open to the public and no registration is required.

The MEPs Lars Adaktusson, Fredrick Federley and Cecilia Wikström will be participating in different ways during the day, as well as the politicians Carl Bildt, Mona Sahlin and the Foreign Minister of Sweden, Margot Wallström. The empowerment of women and the Free Trade Agreement between the US and EU are amongst the subjects being discussed.

Europe Day is celebrated in memory of the declaration made in 1950 by the then Foreign Minister of France, Robert Schuman, where he stated that he wanted to unite Europe in order to preserve peace and create prosperity.
