Passengers from countries outside of Hungary are directed to Customer Service (+36-1-802-11-11) for information on how they can reach their final destination and the possibilities of compensation.

According to the Government decree, in case Malev does not start its flights, the Hungarian State shall provide, via Malev and an intermediary organization, (not known at the moment) compensation and assistance only for those passengers

• who purchased their valid tickets before Malev cease and whose travel dates are on the suspension day or on the following three calendar days.
• who already travelled to their destination on the suspension day or before and posses valid return tickets on Malev flights on a date not later than 29th February 2012.

Those who are entitled will receive assistance from Malev by rerouting their tickets to other flights or other modes of transportation.

The claims for refund of costs should  be sent to malev@malev.com and to the following address: Malev, Postafiók 79, H-1476 Budapest, Hungary.
 
The passengers shall send their claims, the copies of supporting documents (e-ticket, invoice of ticket, boarding card of outbound flight, invoice of costs occurred for rerouting, hotel bills, meals, etc./) and also bank data (IBAN/BIC, Name of account holder, Name of bank, SWIFT, Currency). It is advisable to also refer to the press release and the government decree. The passengers should preserve the original documents and the e-mail/letter sent to Malev.
 
According to the decree the claims shall be submitted to Malev no later than 31th March 2012. Any claims that are submitted later, will not be supported by the special protection of the grant agreement!

If the ticket was purchased by using credit card or bank card - contact your bank and ask for chargeback.
 
Observe that passengers covered by the special protection of the government decree of course are entitled to assert claims under 261/2004/EC regulation.
