The tour operator – or in case of individual booking - the cruise operator is the contact point for claims.

 

The legal department of the Austrian Consumer Association VKI informs on its website:


"Passengers of the cruise liner “Costa Concordia” can claim the reimbursement of the price concerning the days they could not use. Moreover, the cruise operator is liable to damages. This can relate to lost luggage as well as any costs for medical treatment afterwards. Besides, immaterial damages for pain and suffering as well as the loss of joy can be claimed.

Passengers, who booked any cruise that shall take place in the future are not entitled to withdraw from that contract free of charge, eventhough they might be scared now. The reason for that is that the incident happened now cannot bee seen as a general risk for any other cruise".
