Beware of invoices from online lotteries

Currently, ECC Sweden gets many complaints from consumers who have received invoices from online lottery companies. The invoices concern services they have not ordered.

In some cases, the consumer has received a text message with login information to a certain online website. Shortly after having logged on to the website, the company sends an invoice to the consumer. Other consumers have received a text message with a link, and after having accessed the link, they get an invoice.

If you receive an invoice concerning something you haven’t ordered – don’t pay. Instead, contest the claim in writing. And if you get a text message with a link to a website from a company you don’t recognize – don’t click on it!
