An Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) body is an organisation that aims to solve your dispute without going to court. At national level, a wide range of ADR schemes already exist to deal with consumer complaints. Though all of them operate slightly differently, they all have the same essential aim: to provide both consumer and business users with the possibility of independent third party dispute resolution cheaply or at no cost.
Please note that due to the diversity of Alternative Dispute Resolution schemes in the EU there might not exist any ADR body, which is competent to try your complaint.
See the ADR database inkluding all out-of-court bodies and the European Commission Recommendations 98/257/EC and 2001/310/EC on the Principles for the bodies responsible for consensual resolution of consumer disputes.
