Buying on approval

Buying on approval means that you will get your money back if you regret your purchase and return what you have bought within a certain time.

There is no law giving you the right to buy on approval when you are buying from a shop. But there are many department stores, chain stores and individual shops that allow buying on approval without the customer having to ask for it.

You can therefore not automatically assume that you can return goods and get your money back if you regret your purchase. If you want to buy goods on approval, you should ask for this before paying. If the shop agrees to you buying on approval, it is important that this is noted on the receipt. Always keep your receipt. Hand the goods back in time, that is before the approval period runs out. The goods shall be returned in the same state as when you bought them.
